70 Percent Of People Say They Can Hear This Silent GIF. So What The Hell Is Going on?

We have all seen various GIFs on the Internet and social media. GIFs are short, silent animated images and unlike videos, they are with no sound. But, something strange was going on lately. One special silent GIF appeared on Twitter that a lot of people online claim to be able to hear it.

Probably you have already seen it, because this GIF has gone viral on the Internet. This GIF was shared thousands of times with a similar caption: Someone asking “Why can I hear this”.

The GIF, created by Twitter user Happy Toast, has reappeared again after a scientist explained why people hear a thudding noise while watching it.

Can you hear it? Well, you’re not alone.

Dr. Lisa Debruine, a researcher at the University of Glasgow, made a little survey to see how many people could actually hear this special GIF and 75% have said that they could hear a thudding noise. Around 4% have said they heard “something else” when watching this GIF.
