While letting go is hard, it is also the best thing you can do to become free. If we hold onto the past, we can never be truly happy. Here are some of the ways in which you can bring happiness back into your life:
1. Identify The Difference Between Reality And Expectations
We tend to imagine a different world for ourselves, full of expectations and desire. But real life is different and our expectations will not always match. So, you should start becoming aware that reality and expectations are different and the best way to deal with life is to get rid of expectations. Accept yourself as who you are and appreciate yourself. Become aware of your role in a relationship as well.
2. Be Rational
Life can be funny and while you may spend hours and years planning on something, life may just come in a second to break it all apart. But you should not get emotional and give up. Be rational and respond to the problem in a rational manner. You may have to set boundaries between others and yourself and let irrelevant people go.
3. Don’t Limit Yourself
While we may have high dreams, sometimes, we limit ourselves with negative thoughts that say ‘I cannot achieve something like that’ or ‘it’s impossible’. You are doubting yourself and by doubting yourself, you are also limiting yourself. Be truthful and reasonable. Show the world what you can do. Nothing is impossible.
4. Let Go Of Control
The only person whom you can control is yourself. Control your response to different things and control the way you treat others. But don’t expect others to treat you a specific way and remember that you are not responsible for anybody else’s actions. So, while it might be frustrating, you should give up on trying to control others and just focus on yourself.
5. Focus On Your Thoughts
Don’t let the thoughts of others guide you – they don’t rule your life. You know how your life has been after all. So, begin focusing on your thoughts and be in harmony with it. As long as you focus on the thoughts of other people, you will feel unhappy. Don’t let other people control you.
6. Grow
Understand that you are not in your final form – you are a work still in progress. Healing, letting go, and hurting is all part of the process. So, accept it as it is, and stop becoming obsessed with only one event. Move on – there is a lot more to see. The future is waiting for you.
