8 Common Habits of People Who Cheat in a Relationship
Cheaters have always been there. It’s really astonishing how they could cheat and get away with it. Sometimes, we wonder whether any relationship could last after cheating. Or is it once a cheater, always a cheater? Cheating is terrible, but unfortunately, studies show that it’s going to stay. All we can do is try and become more educated about it.
Awareness will help us be more capable of understanding our situation related to cheating. That’s one step towards a better relationship with ourselves at least. Ashley Madison, an online dating service, conducted studies to understand the behaviors of cheaters. Some of their conclusions are really something we all must ponder over:
1. It will affect your long-term relationships
Cheating affects long-term relationships more than it could affect hook-ups or casual flings. It makes sense – the cheater would rather break off a casual fling than take the effort to cheat. But the bad news is that, as per studies, infidelity can happen most of the time when you are deep in a long-term relationship.
2. It could be going on for months or years
It may seem like cheating will be a one-time affair, a one night-stand and it’s over. But it’s rarely so. Most of the cheating seems to be built on affairs that go on for months, maybe ever for years on end. They are serious affairs – we should never take them lightly.
3. Cheaters will have their lovers on their minds all the time
When someone is cheating, they will have their lover on their mind almost every time of their day. It might be for many reasons, but the fact remains that they are thinking about them.
4. Cheater might communicate a lot more with their lover than their partners
It’s clear that the cheater has some sense of guilt about the cheating process. So, just to distract themselves, they might end up communicating a lot more with their lovers than their actual partner.
5. Texting during working hours
For cheaters, working hours are the best time for any kind of communication with their lover. They are in their safe space and their partner wouldn’t be dropping in on them. They will engage in texting throughout that period.
6. Preferred communication medium – Texting
Secrecy is a necessity when you are cheating on someone. What is the best method to keep a secret other than texting? Cheaters will spend a lot of time texting their cheating partners because it’s much safer.
7. The 9 pm rule
9 pm is the time that cheaters have their cheating instincts activated. They won’t text during the middle of the day as much. But once it goes past 9 pm, it becomes less inconspicuous and thus begins their cheating. Generally, they have their plans set up with ‘staying late for work’ or ‘going out with friends’.
8. But often, the real partner will be their priority
But even then, cheaters are not completely jerks. Studies show that during an event of a phone call, cheaters will pick up their actual partner’s call and engage in any disruption with them over their cheating partner. Now, that’s a saving grace.
We all know cheating is terrible. If your partner is showing any of these signs, be wary and be on the look-out. However, don’t pounce on them immediately. It could be anything and you don’t want to come off as a suspicious person, do you?
