1.Let your partner know you love them

No matter how hard you two might have fought during the day, don’t go to sleep without telling each other how much you love and value them. And do it as if you mean it, not simply because you read so on the internet.

2.Try going to sleep together at the same time

It’s not enough that you have a busy schedule that keeps you apart during the day. Many couples don’t even coordinate on the bedtime. It is surprising how something so small as having a common nighttime routine can do so much for bringing you together.

3.Unplug your life before bedtime

The time spent on phones takes away from the time that could’ve been spent together. Make it a rule that both of you will ban your devices from the bedroom, or stop checking them after a certain hour. This will give you the time to connect with each other.

4.Your sleep is important

Ignoring your sleep also won’t do much good to your personal equation. Make sure that no matter how much you talk or get busy in the bedroom, you still have enough hour left to catch up to your sleep. It is important both for your health, and your ability to be there for each other during the day.

5.Gratitude

Being in a relationship means that the two of you are expected to be there for each other. But that doesn’t mean you can’t show your gratitude towards your partner for the same. When you tell your partner how much you appreciate them, for things big and small, everyday, you strengthen your relationship.

6.Not arguing about things that are too complex to be solved at bedtime

Although it is generally true that you shouldn’t let your partner go to sleep hurt or angry, you need to be smart enough to recognize the exceptions. Sometimes, an argument is too complex and important to be attempted when both of you are tired from a busy day and at your wit’s end.

7.They take out time everyday to talk about each other’s day

 Many people are afraid of this because they feel they are incapable of solving their spouse’s work related problems and thus might cause even more misery. But all your partner needs is an understanding ear, who would let them vent everything. They are not expecting you to solve their problems, they just need you to listen.

8.Making the bedroom relatively out of bounds for your kids

No matter how much you love your kids, you need to prioritize your own intimacy at least within the sanctuary of your own bedroom. Unless it is something critical like illness, teach your kids to give you some space within the four walls.
