5 Ways to Start a New Habit and Change Your Life
Our lives take shape on the basis of our habits. Even though people say that we get what we are destined to, a large part of reaching that destination depends on us adopting good habits and making sure that we take care of ourselves.
In the hustle and bustle of our lives, it often gets pretty tough to look out for our own selves but that does not mean that we cannot work on this.
All we have to do is set our mind to something and make sure we see through it.
Making new habits is tough but sticking to them is harder, which is why I am here to help you!
Have attainable goals
It is always good and advisable to have big dreams and aims in life but there is more to chasing that one dream all the time. If one tries to do huge things from the get go, chances are that they will most likely not succeed since we all have to do the things we must, to live our lives on a day to day basis. The key is to make short term goals that will lead to the long term dream.
New behaviour
Making big changes is not easy, it has never been. It takes more than momentary conviction to change one’s life in a big way so trying to turn things around completely in one day will never help. The solution is to make small but impactful changes in our day to day activities methodically.
Less is more
Having too many options in life never really work for anyone. Having to make trivial decisions eats into your mental capacity more than you might think. Say you have to go to a morning meeting but you get late because you could not decide what kind of cereal to eat that morning. This kind of thing is avoidable and should be avoided, at all costs. Minimalism is always in fashion and it will do wonders for you- time management is going to be a piece of cake. Remember what they have always said- do not sweat the small stuff, it is never worth it.
Be real
Imagine yourself changing all your bad habits but do not plummet into day dreaming. Day dreaming makes sure that you never really get the job done- why? Since you are busy daydreaming! There is always a lot that you have to do and you have to be level headed to make sure you get that stuff done. When you day dream too much, it sets really high standards and that often makes you nervous when it actually comes to getting things done! Imagine yourself changing your habits and thinking about how helpful they would be once you do but stop right there.
Slipping is natural
You will slip sometimes. This is not a reason to lose hope and not do the thing anymore at all. Slip, fall but be sure to get back up and do what you have to.
Be positive and get to it, nothing is impossible.
