7 Signs You’ve Found a Gentleman
This is a catalogue of a gentleman by the standards that society has set upon us, and which has brought in the notions of chivalry and courage. The knight in shining armour, or as the latest trend goes, a knight in a crisp suit.
What makes us, if you are a man or our partner, if you are still a man or woman, a gentleman? What could possibly make us different from a boy, or a hipster with jeans hanging off his underwear? Let’s see.
1. Truthful
Here we go. A gentleman is always truthful. He wouldn’t lie to you, simply because he wouldn’t feel the need to. This could have connotations of his love for you, but he might not lie, simply because he doesn’t! He would make sure that he would always maintain the truth, and nothing but the truth.
2. Honest
Honesty runs in the blood. Not only can you be assured that you have a keeper, you can be assured of his family too. He is always honest, and sometimes too honest that it might get a bit awkward, but he always knows when to draw the line. He might not like a particular individual, but he would be honest about that, not squabbling like kids, but decent like a man.
3. A keeper of his word
Not only is he a keeper because he loves you, but he is also a keeper of his words. He would never forget what he promised. His word is always written in stone, and he would be the strongest tree in a storm, never breaking his word, even under duress.
4. Privacy
He is extremely private about his and your sex life. Never speaking a word about it to people who aren’t romping the bed at night with you. He doesn’t think he needs to inform people how many pages of the Kamasutra you two finished last night, simply because he doesn’t care, and also because he values your privacy, and your modesty.
5. Punctuality
This is what makes a man, a gentleman. Respect for time. Respect for the person waiting for him. Punctuality has always been the key to a good relationship, and a man who is punctual, always knows how to manage their priorities.
6. Offers to Pay
A gentleman is always ready to pay for the bills, or the check in a restaurant. But he isn’t forceful. He would let you pay, because he is an egalitarian, and believes in equality as a whole. He would also be willing to share the bills if you insist. He wouldn’t impose his patriarchy onto his partner.
7. He is Courteous and Respectful
He has had a good upbringing, for he says “Please”, and “Thank You”, at every chance. He always keeps the door open for people, helps the elderly while crossing the street, feeds dogs on the road, and is an all round good guy, who is lucky to have met you.
