3 Things That Happen to Your Body and Mind When You Are Lonely

The world today has become highly nomadic. People tend to keep to themselves and never mix with each other, and even if they do, it is yet another facade for what is truly, loneliness. Alienation, isolation or whatever be the term it is referred to as, loneliness can be pleasant in the first couple of weeks, when you are just exploring your own self, and that can be an exciting opportunity to really know more about oneself.

Yet, loneliness can be a major problem if you keep on being in that same state for years at a stretch. It would lead to a feeling of being unloved, and unwanted, and the psychological damages it results in are truly frightening:

1.Insomnia

Loneliness usually results in insomnia, or sleep deprivation. The brain is so overworked and fraught with thoughts, that they never give the body a moment’s peace. The voices in your head never stop, and that prevents anyone from getting a full night’s sleep. You would always be sad and morose, and that would result in incomplete slumbers, leading to further mood aggravation.

2.Dementia

Loneliness leads to insanity. The link is simple, as humans are social beings. We need to talk to other humans, interact with them in a way that would balance the equilibrium of your mind-body dichotomy. But, when you are alone, your mind doesn’t get the chance to freshen up, and you are left with stale, dead thoughts of the previous day, which really burn someone’s brains.

3.Weight Problems

Loneliness in women begets depression, and depression begets eating disorder. A woman who is lonely is prone to eating unhealthy and a lot, because she wants to fill the void in her heart by filling the void in her stomach. That leads to another host of problems, like chronic diseases, respiratory, digestive and excretory problems. Loneliness leads to a lot of cons and the few moments of self introspection, aren’t worth it.

But, how to tackle them?

Every problem comes with a solution. In this scenario, the solutions are:

Mix

Easily the best way. Socialise. Go beyond the veneers of your mobile phone, and actually talk to people. Discuss about your life, and question about theirs. Show a genuine interest in the blossoming humanity around you, for that is why you live- to love.

Be Positive

Don’t ever lose hope, for hope is all we have. Even if you are stranded on an island with no one in sight, never lose hope, for you will get out of it. Have positive, uplifting thoughts in your head that you should repeat in your mind, again and again. Don’t let any negativity reach you.

Look to the future, make plans, look to astrology to help guide you or even try a tarot reading.

Loneliness is a curse that is bestowed upon us. Fight it. Get in groups. Go on tours. Talk to people. Live your life as s jubilant human, and not as a dry husk of a human being. Craving solace is an extremely humane thing to do, but you need to realise that the human body, and the human mind needs someone to share your thoughts with, someone, who would stop the voices in your head from boiling you over.
